3 Things You Might Be Doing That Are Harmful to Your BMW

Rotating the Tires Helps them Last Longer and Improves Traction for Your BMWWhen you own a BMW, most people want to take care of it as well as they can. They will go out of their way to keep it protected, parking it in their garage, getting a car cover for it, and even parking way out in the middle of nowhere at a local mall to avoid getting dinged by carts or scratched by somebody else’s car door.

Unfortunately, there could be a few things you might be doing that are actually harmful to your BMW, and you might not realize it just yet. Let’s talk about those three things now and why it’s so important to bring your vehicle into an authorized BMW service center for regular inspections and servicing.

First, you might be neglecting the tires.

Most of us have a tendency to walk around our vehicle, admire its finish, check the windows, and maybe even pay attention to lights, or look for scratches and dings, but how often do we actually pay attention to the tires?

Tire pressure and tread are absolutely crucial for maintaining traction and safety. You should always check to make sure your tires are properly inflated and that there is optimal tread for those rainy and snowy days.

Second, you might be putting off bringing it in because of the check engine light.

The check engine light illuminates, but you are busy. You just don’t have time to bring it into a service center. So, you delay for a week, then two, then four. Everything is running fine and you don’t hear or feel any difference whatsoever. It must be a mistake or just a regular service reminder.

In most cases, the check engine light will illuminate because something is not working as designed. The more you delay, the more likely serious problems can develop.

Third, you’re not cleaning your BMW.

Washing and waxing is one thing, but if the interior of your BMW is filthy, you simply won’t be taking care of the engine or other components, either. It’s a good habit to get in to throwing garbage away when you have it, dust down the dashboard and vacuum out your vehicle as this will inspire you to pay closer attention to the details that matter.
