The summer sun can cause a great deal of damage to the finish of your BMW. Some people have a preference to keep it out of the direct sunlight as often as possible. Keeping it in the garage is a great asset, but what about waxing?
It is true that waxing your BMW is a great way to protect the finish.
However, that doesn’t necessarily mean you should be out waxing it every single week. Not only is that a great investment of your time, it’s not always effective. In fact, done too much, waxing your vehicle can actually cause problems to the finish over time.
You should certainly wash your BMW as frequently as needed to keep dirt, grime, and other foreign contaminants off the surface. You might have a tendency to bring your car into a car wash center once a week. That’s fine.
You can even get the premier service.
The premier service might include a wax finish, but that is not the same as actually waxing your vehicle. In order to do it properly, you need to have a high quality wax that you would apply to the finish, allow it to dry, and then wipe off with a soft cloth, such as a terrycloth.
You should do this approximately two times per year. Once a year at a minimum, and three or four times at a maximum. If you wax your vehicle more frequently than this, you could begin noticing build up that can be extremely frustrating to get rid of.
If you have any questions about how to properly wax your BMW, make sure you learn from an experienced professional first. Applying it improperly, using the wrong materials, and even the wrong techniques can cause scratches to the finish, which is exactly what you want to avoid by keeping it protected and looking its best with a wax finish.
