5 Interesting Ways Your BMW Talks to You

IDRIVE VEH CHECKYou might not be paying attention, but your BMW is talking to you. It’s important for any BMW owner to begin familiarizing themselves with their vehicles particular language.

In order to understand this a little better, here are five interesting ways that your BMW may be talking to you (even though you might not have been aware of it).

1. A change in behavior.

More common in older vehicles, a change in behavior can certainly occur with a newer vehicle as well. This kind of change in behavior can be a subtle hesitation in acceleration, a harder shift, or the feeling that it’s just not as powerful as it had been in the past.

This change in behavior is your vehicle telling you that something needs to be addressed. The check engine light doesn’t have to illuminate for there to be something affecting performance.

2. Those dashboard lights.

This is the easiest way to determine whether or not your vehicle is trying to tell you something. If the check engine light, ABS light, or some other light illuminates and stays on after the car has started, the onboard diagnostic system has detected a problem that needs to be addressed.

It’s time to bring your vehicle into an authorized BMW service center today.

3. Drifting.

If you notice your BMW beginning to drift while driving down the road, it could be the alignment that has been affected. It can be affected by age, new tires, potholes in the road, and many other things.

4. Interesting sounds.

If you begin to hear chirping, groaning, whining, or other sounds while driving that you hadn’t noticed before, it’s usually the result of something beginning to wear out, break down, or rub against something it’s not supposed to.

5. A less comfortable ride experience.

If you notice bumps in the road more often, the ride is just not as smooth, quiet, or comfortable as it used to be, this could be something with the suspension or many other aspects of your vehicle.

Once you begin paying attention to these communicative devices your BMW uses, it becomes clearer when you should bring it in for an inspection or repairs.
