Following a wonderful summer season, cooler weather is on the way. We may not want to think about winter just yet, but fortunately we have an entire fall season to get through. However, it’s a good idea to begin thinking about autumn and winter and make sure your BMW is ready for both.
What you need to do to get your vehicle ready?
Even though you might have had an Inspection performed on your BMW recently, the change in season means you need to pay attention to your tires, coolant or antifreeze levels, and other fluids.
Bring your BMW into an authorized service center like Bimmex to have the technicians there check everything out to make sure it’s ready for cooler weather. You may need to switch over from coolant to antifreeze. While these are essentially the same, it’s a good idea to have your coolant system flushed out twice a year, once after winter and once before we get into the cooler seasons.
Your tire pressure is also going to change.
If you don’t do anything to your tires, and even though there may not be any leaks, they will lose pressure over time. Dramatically fluctuating temperatures will also have an impact on tire pressure. It’s a good idea to have them inspected and the tire pressure maintained at optimal levels.
As we head into the cooler months, it’s a good idea to inflate your tires a little bit more to help maintain better traction on colder surfaces.
It’s also a good tip to keep an emergency roadside kit in your vehicle along with some drinking water, nonperishable food, and a blanket or two, just in case you face an emergency situation and need to stay warm.
Now is also the time to check the battery and alternator to ensure you will always have good starting power.
