Summer is right around the corner and that means plenty of great driving roads lay ahead for you and your BMW. Now is the perfect time to get the right BMW services for your ultimate driving machine.
What to Check for Summer Driving
During the summer, your BMW will run differently than it does during the winter. You won’t need to worry about cold starts, but overheating could be a major concern. The tires will require different pressure because the road surface will heat up faster.
Now is the best time for BMW services to ensure that it’s ready for the warmer weather and the changes in driving conditions. Dust, heat, and even heavy rains can all affect traction on the roads and performance of the engine.
1. Is the air filter clean? It’s best to replace your air filter when you’re getting ready for summer driving. This is usually a straightforward process, but you can have it checked when you bring your car in for an oil change or other service.
2. Change the oil. Now that winter is over, it’s time to have the oil changed. Choose a more protective viscosity oil, which is generally thicker. This will keep your BMW running smooth along those many miles ahead.
3. Change or check your tires. If you have winter tires on your BMW, now is the time to change them back to summer rain tires, if you haven’t done so already. Tire pressure should be reduced for the summer heat because when the tires heat up, the air molecules inside will move faster, increasing the pressure.
4. Flush the radiator. Now would be a great time to flush the radiator in your BMW. This past winter was tough on your engine, especially with all those cold starts. Flushing the radiator will keep your car protected during the upcoming hot season in Toronto.
If you have a convertible top, have that inspected to ensure that the motor operates properly and that it will seal correctly.
During the summer, driving a BMW is a blast. Keep yours in peak running condition this spring by taking it to Bimmex for all your BMW services.
